At the intersection of knowledge, culture, and community, the Keleher Learning Commons (KLC) serves as a gathering place where ideas are explored, perspectives are shared, and innovation takes shape. Librarians and KLC staff offer a wide variety of services, including research assistance, longer-form research consultation, and information literacy programming in person and via phone, email, Zoom, and Teams.
The Keleher Learning Commons provides access to research databases, scholarly journals and articles, books and e-books, streaming media, primary sources, and more, both online through our website and in person during KLC open hours. Support is available in person or through curated research guides and tutorials on the library website for each major subject area. Library collections also include board games, card games, graphic novels, DVDs, and loanable items such as laptops, microphones, video cameras, phone and other device chargers, a vacuum cleaner, tool kits, and more.
Librarians provide support for several educational technologies, including 3D printing, poster printing, and podcasting. Review, training, troubleshooting, and production of academic and cocurricular projects are services available to support student participation in project-based and lifelong learning.
The KLC features collaborative, individual, and group learning spaces, including reservable event, classroom, and meeting room spaces. Whiteboards, televisions, hammocks, general craft supplies, and a printer/copier/scanner are available. Spiro’s Cup, a coffee shop managed as USM’s Student Business Learning Lab, is located on the first floor of the KLC.
Located on the second floor of the Keleher Learning Commons, the LeBeau Special Collections exhibit space highlights a selection of items from the University Special Collections, including the Bernard H. Hall Lincoln Collection, Sir John and Mary Craig Scripture Collection, and other historical and artistic books, art pieces, documents, and memorabilia collected by or donated to the University Special Collections. This exhibit space and collections are available for public viewing during the KLC's open hours.
