Honors Program
The Honors Program challenges capable students to the best scholarship within their power, encourages independent thought, brings students and faculty into dialogue about meaningful questions, and contributes to the climate of a community of learning.
Any incoming freshmen who meet two of the following three criteria will be invited into the University of Saint Mary Honors Program: an ACT score of 25 or higher, a cumulative GPA of 3.70 or higher, and/or is in the top 10% of their graduating high school class. An incoming transfer student with a cumulative GPA of 3.70 or higher will be invited into the University of Saint Mary All University Honors Program. Currently enrolled Saint Mary students who maintain a 3.70 GPA or higher will be invited to join the Honors Program beginning in the sophomore and junior years. In some cases, the Honors Coordinator and/or Honors Committee may waive a particular entrance requirement for a given student based on other indicators of academic performance. For more information, please contact the Honors Coordinator.
To remain in the Honors Program, students must maintain a 3.70 cumulative GPA, a 3.50 major GPA, complete one 3-credit Honors Seminar (HN 350), two Honors-in-Course/Honors-in-Field Projects, and attend regular Honors functions and events both on and off campus throughout the year.
