SW 615 Global Professional Learning for the Graduate Student

An experiential course with immersion in a foreign country that features concentrated study, lectures, and interactions with the people of a region. Course involves an in-depth examination of global, social, and economic issues of development; and the various philosophies, strategies, and patterns of responses used to address hunger, health, medical care, education, and other issues impacting the people of developing countries. Course includes a review of the role of social service agencies, international agencies (i.e., United Nations, UNICEF, etc.), government and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and their responses to development limitations. It also reviews the impact of the distribution of wealth and resources in the world in general and in the destination country in particular.
