PY 763 Counseling Children and Adolescents

This course provides the fundamentals of counseling children and adolescents in the school setting involving developmental issues, problematic concerns, and use of best practice models and approaches for addressing individual and group needs at the pre-kindergarten, elementary, middle, and high school levels. Focus is given to developmental and counseling theories, and models and practices for effective prevention and intervention in the school setting. Topics will also address working with parents and families, diverse and exceptional student populations, trauma effective practices and services delivery within the state and national models for data-informed, results-based comprehensive school counseling programs.
