BI 330 Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy

The study of gross vertebrate anatomy used to illuminate evolutionary relationships among the chordates. System-level data is analyzed for evolutionary evidence. Several species of vertebrate are dissected. Pre-veterinary students will benefit from its comparative anatomical approach to understanding the organization of the vertebrate body. Other pre-healthcare students will benefit from the developmental anatomy focus of the course, which provides explanatory power to human anatomy. The course is designed to introduce non-science students to the field, so it is accessible for general education students as well. Three hours lecture per week and two hours laboratory per week.
