Pre-Optometry
Most optometry programs require students to have completed a bachelor’s degree although some schools may accept students with a minimum of three years of undergraduate coursework completed prior to admission. Students should plan on taking one year of biology (Principles of Biology I, Principles of Biology II, Genetics, Microbiology), two years of chemistry (General Chemistry I and II and Organic Chemistry I and II) and one year of physics (Physics I and II).
The Optometry Admission Test (OAT) is required of students as part of the application for acceptance into a school of optometry.
